The State’s Big 3 National Parks
Washington State is home to three of the nation’s most extraordinary national parks: Mount Rainier, Olympic, and North Cascades. Mount Rainier National Park, just two hours from Seattle, features the iconic 14,000-foot volcano, with its towering glaciers in winter and vibrant wildflower meadows in summer. Olympic National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage site, showcases the state's diversity, with rugged coastlines, temperate rainforests like the Hoh, and alpine vistas from Hurricane Ridge. North Cascades National Park, often called the “American Alps,” boasts jagged peaks, over 300 glaciers, and some of the country's most untouched wilderness.

Seattle
Seattle, Washington’s largest city, is known for its dynamic blend of urban sophistication and natural beauty. Tacoma

The best time to visit Washington State is during summer (June to August) for warm weather and outdoor activities. The main airport in Washington State is Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (SEA), which handles the majority of domestic and international flights. Other important airports include Spokane International Airport (GEG) and Tacoma Narrows Airport (TIW), serving various regions within the state.
A recommended stay in Washington State is about 7 to 10 days. This timeframe allows visitors to explore Seattle’s attractions, enjoy natural wonders like Mount Rainier and the San Juan Islands, and experience the state’s unique coastal and mountain environments. Naturally allow for 4 or so days in Seattle at the end or start of your trip.
Tipping in Washington State follows standard U.S. practices: 15-20% in restaurants, $1-$2 per bag for hotel porters, and $1-$5 per night for housekeeping. Taxi drivers should receive 10-15% of the fare, and small tips are appreciated for other services such as valet parking and bellhops.
