Japan National Tourism Organization starts off the year with lively industry events in Perth and Sydney

Linkd Tourism on behalf of the Japan National Tourism Organization (JNTO) recently wrapped up two jam-packed exhibition-style events for travel agents at The Westin Perth and Doltone House Hyde Park in Sydney.

Both events were at capacity, attracting around 200 attendees in total. Featuring an impressive lineup of around 40 leading Japanese suppliers at each location, the JNTO events provided a full evening of networking and the opportunity to gather information for trade partners and agents.

‘Special guest’ and official Expo 2025 mascot Myaku-Myaku added some colour to the lively atmosphere of each venue, celebrating and creating further awareness for World Expo 2025, which will take place in Osaka from 13 April to 13 October 2025.

JNTO shared intel with the audience about the incredible growth of the destination, seeing an increase of Australian travellers heading to Japan by 48% in 2024 compared with 2019 (pre-COVID). Harriett Bougher, JNTO Business Development & Senior Assistant Marketing Manager, further thanked attendees for contributing to the tourist dispersal across regional areas of Japan that have seen phenomenal growth in 2024 compared with previous years.

Entertainment included a traditional koto player providing background music for the travel industry to enjoy as they learned more about Japan’s new offerings. The enthusiasm for learning about Japanese culture and experiences was high.

Both events featured prize giveaways, including accommodation stays, traditional crafts, and Japanese spirits. Event organizers, Linkd Tourism, successfully orchestrated both evenings.
